Aves Cantábricas S.L. is a business initiative that was born in Cantabria in 2005, with the main idea of enhancing the natural resources of the Cantabrian biogeographic region.

 

Its projects are carried out by a multidisciplinary team of biologists, geologists, field technicians and leisure monitors with extensive experience in their respective fields of knowledge.

ALEJANDRO GARCÍA HERRERA

 

AVES CANTÁBRICAS DIRECTOR

Technician degree in forestry and conservation of the natural environment. Renowned specialist in Iberian vertebrate fauna, being the author of numerous studies of wildlife (forest birds, birds of prey, marine or aquatic), as well as mammals (including bats), reptiles and amphibians, since 2004.

He has collaborated with different Universities, scientific organizations, non-governmental organizations, governmental administrations and consultants.

 

He is author and co-author of several scientific and outreach publications.

MAIN WORKING LINES:

 

Environmental Consultancy, collaborating with Academic and Scientific Institutions, Consultants and with the different Administrations, in studies related to natural resources.

 

Organization of events and nature tourism products development, through detailed guided observation to promote localities and natural resources, as well as to improve knowledge about unique habitats and species in Iberia, with a focus in Cantabria.

 

Training, outreach and interpretation, through development of educational projects, elaboration of contents for the interpretation of heritage and organization of advanced courses about natural environment.

SKIPPER

Professional skipper with the necessary qualifications to run a sixth list boat. She also has health and safety training at sea.

 

She has decades of experience as boat skipper.

Juan G. Navedo

 

SCIENTIFIC ADVISOR

PhD in Marine Sciences and Technologies. Currently affiliated to Ecology in the Anthropocene Research Group, University of Extremadura.

 

He develops collaborative research in basic and applied ecology trying to understand the effects of human interactions on nature, focused on migratory waterbirds. Author of more than 60 publications in scientific journals.
